Imagine finding out after allotment that your rank could have gotten you a better college than the one you ended up with. With close to 2,000 institutes to choose from in NEET PG counselling, putting your choices in a sensible order isn’t easy. That’s where Vantage Rank comes in.

Vantage Rank is neetvantage’s ranking of institutes, designed to give you a quick sense of how one institute compares with another. The lower the rank, the more preferred.

How is Vantage Rank calculated?

Two things go into the rankings.

Candidate preferences

The ranking is driven primarily by candidate preferences from previous years. Instead of looking only at closing ranks/cut-offs, we consider every allotment from the non-stray rounds. We know candidate preferences aren’t a perfect measure of quality, since they are shaped by location, language, bonds and more. Even so, we believe they are a strong signal. An institute isn’t just its buildings and faculty; the peers you train alongside matter too. Candidate preferences from more recent years carry more weight than older ones.

Manual adjustments

While we consider student preferences the strongest signal, we also manually tweak the rankings to adjust/offset for regional preferences, language preferences, infrastructure, toxicity etc. These adjustments typically move an institute by only one or two places.

Four rankings

A college that’s sought after for surgical hands-on experience may not be as popular for Radio Diagnosis or General Medicine, and vice versa. That’s why we publish three subject rankings: General Medicine, General Surgery and Radio Diagnosis. We also publish an overall Vantage Rank, calculated from these three.

Use Vantage Rank as a starting point when ordering your choices, then adjust it to your own priorities.
